PetVax
A
Company History
PetVax was
founded in 1994 by Dr. Kevin Frazier, a 1981 graduate of the University of
Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Frazier had previously practiced
in North Carolina and Arkansas before returning to his hometown of Memphis in
1993.
Upon his return to Memphis, Dr. Frazier
initially began practicing at an area emergency clinic. A recurring theme at
this facility was the number of pets suffering from problems that could have
been prevented with appropriate well pet care. These were problems that never
should have occurred, which resulted in hundreds of dollars of unnecessary
expenses, because the owners felt the cost of ongoing well pet care was beyond
what they could afford.
Dr. Frazier recalled that while on a
trip to the west coast he had seen a number of vaccination clinics set up in pet
stores. The low overhead of this arrangement allowed the well pet services to be
offered at a substantial discount to the pet owners. He took this idea to Don
Warmbrod, former owner of the Hollywood Pet Star chain in Memphis, who agreed that it
was a concept Memphis needed. The vaccination clinics were an immediate success,
and in response to client request, PetVax opened a spay/neuter clinic one year
later.
As these practices grew the
continual request from our clients was that we begin a full service clinic so
that we could be there to care for the needs of the patients we had grown to
love at our well pet clinics. In 1998, a full service clinic was purchased which
has allowed us to provide for the complete pet care needs of our patients and
clients.
Today PetVax has 2 full service locations to serve
you as we look to expand our pet care philosophy across Memphis and the
Mid-South area.
