Keeping Pets Healthy Since 1994

Our company began with one simple desire: to spare pets in the Memphis area unnecessary suffering from preventable diseases and health problems by offering AFFORDABLE VACCINATIONS and WELL PET SERVICES.  

While working as an Emergency Care Veterinarian in 1993, Dr. Kevin Frazier, the PetVax founder and a 1981 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, realized that every day he was treating pets in Memphis for diseases and health problems that so easily could have been prevented. Many pet owners considered the high costs of vaccinations, preventative medicines, testing and other forms of well pet care unaffordable. Consequently, many pet owners made the undesirable choice – to risk their pet’s health – by foregoing expensive, preventative pet care. All too often, both the pets and their owners paid a higher price in the end.

Soon thereafter, Dr. Frazier approached Don Warmbrod, former owner of the Hollywood Pet Star stores, with a revolutionary idea. He suggested a partnership that would combine IN-STORE LOW-COST VACCINATION CLINICS & WELL PET SERVICES with the convenience of pet store shopping. Lower overhead would enable Dr. Frazier and his team to reduce prices on vaccinations, heartworm tests, well-pet products and other services. These savings would be passed along to pet owners, finally making Preventative Pet Healthcare in Memphis a reality!

With Mr. Warmbrod’s approval and the community’s enthusiastic response, PetVax was born. Pet owners from all over the city were so appreciative for the chance to protect their pet(s) better… and at a price they could afford.

Next, calls came pouring in from our clients, requesting spay and neuter services for their pets, and then, full-service animal hospitals to serve all of their pets’ veterinary needs. In 1995, an Outpatient Surgery Center was added in Midtown, and in 1998, PetVax opened its first Complete Care Center.

Today, PetVax has three, Full-Service Animal Hospitals, one Outpatient Surgery Center and four Mobile Vaccination/Well-Pet Clinics…all fully staffed with professionals eager to give the Mid-South a better option in quality, affordable, pet healthcare.
